🚨 BREAKING: Liverpool Enter Talks for £78m Arsenal Target as Richard Hughes Leads Charge for Blockbuster Seventh Signing of the Summer

    adminBy adminJuly 26, 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Liverpool have been dealt a major blow just before the start of the new season, as new signing Jeremie Frimpong has suffered a devastating injury. The 23-year-old right wing-back, who joined from Bayer Leverkusen for over £40 million, was brought in by Arne Slot to bring electrifying speed, high energy, and offensive flair to Liverpool’s flanks. Frimpong had quickly caught the eye in pre-season training and was tipped to play a key role in Slot’s revamped tactical setup.

However, those plans have now taken a dramatic and unfortunate turn. During a training session on Wednesday, Frimpong collapsed after a sharp pivot, immediately reaching for his knee in clear distress. The medical staff feared the worst, and unfortunately, those fears were confirmed after scans revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). This serious injury means Frimpong will require surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation period, likely sidelining him until early 2026.

For Liverpool, this is not just a tactical loss — it’s a deeply emotional setback. Frimpong’s arrival had generated excitement among fans who hoped he would bring a new dimension to the team’s attack. Now, he faces months of recovery before he can even think about returning to the pitch. The timing couldn’t be worse, with the season yet to start, and one of Liverpool’s marquee signings already ruled out.

Despite the setback, Liverpool are staying aggressive in the transfer market. In fact, the club is now reportedly in direct negotiations with the representatives of a highly-rated £78 million player. This unnamed star, who is believed to be a Champions League-proven attacking midfielder or winger, has also been a long-standing target for Arsenal. Both Mikel Arteta and Arne Slot are said to be admirers of the player’s abilities.

Liverpool’s new sporting director Richard Hughes is at the center of the push to get the deal over the line. Since taking on his role, Hughes has been quietly working behind the scenes, and sources say he is personally handling negotiations to make this potential seventh signing a reality. The club recently secured the services of Hugo Ekitike, and this new addition could be the crown jewel of their summer rebuild.

With competition from Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool are moving quickly to finalize the deal before the start of the Premier League season. The targeted player is reportedly open to a move to England, and Liverpool’s ambitious project under Arne Slot could be the deciding factor. This potential transfer reinforces the message that Liverpool are not playing cautiously this summer — they’re aiming high and building for a dominant future.
