Manchester United supporters unanimously voice concern over recurring trend, attributing blame to Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United supporters have grown increasingly concerned about what they perceive as a troubling trend impacting their team’s performance, and they’re directing their frustration towards manager Erik ten Hag.

In Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry City, Manchester United initially appeared to be cruising towards victory, establishing a commanding 3-0 lead. However, a stunning comeback orchestrated by Coventry saw the match extending into extra time, leaving fans on edge.

The pivotal moment occurred when Ellis Simms found the back of the net for Coventry, followed by Callum O’Hare’s deflected strike, narrowing the deficit to just one goal. Manchester United’s passive approach in the closing minutes proved costly as Coventry was awarded a penalty in the 95th minute, resulting in a dramatic equalizer courtesy of Haji Wright and forcing the match into extra time.

While Coventry believed they had secured a late winner through Victor Torp’s goal in the 121st minute, VAR intervened and disallowed the goal for offside, providing a temporary reprieve for Manchester United.

Ultimately, Manchester United prevailed in the penalty shootout, clinching a 4-2 victory. However, the manner in which they relinquished their lead left fans bewildered and searching for answers, with many directing blame towards manager Erik ten Hag for a particular decision.

The substitution of winger Alejandro Garnacho in the 66th minute, with Manchester United comfortably ahead at 3-0, raised eyebrows among supporters. This marked the third occasion this month that Garnacho had been withdrawn from a match with his team in a winning position.

Previously, similar substitutions occurred in matches against Chelsea and Liverpool, both of which ended unfavorably for Manchester United, with Chelsea securing a late comeback win and Liverpool salvaging a draw.

On various social media platforms, Manchester United fans expressed their frustration with Ten Hag’s repeated decision to substitute Garnacho. Some labeled it as “an absolute joke,” while others criticized Ten Hag’s reluctance to make substitutions with other players, such as Marcus Rashford.

Despite Garnacho’s inconsistent performances, he has emerged as a rare bright spot for Manchester United this season, contributing nine goals and four assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

The concerns voiced by Manchester United fans highlight the intense scrutiny that managers face, especially when decisions made during crucial moments impact the outcome of matches. As the season progresses, the pressure on Erik ten Hag to address these concerns and guide Manchester United to success will only intensify.
