Liverpool’s playmaker and winger, Mohamed Salah, is set to become the most disliked player after his surprising transfer to a rival Premier League club.

Mohamed Salah is anticipated to remain with Liverpool for at least one more season, despite growing interest from Saudi Arabia. Earlier this week, Salah hinted in a tweet that he would not be leaving Liverpool this summer, and current reports suggest that fans of the club can be reassured that he will not be making a swift exit following manager Jurgen Klopp’s departure.

Mike McGrath from The Telegraph reports that clubs in the Saudi Pro League are now prepared to wait until the following summer to pursue Salah, whose current contract has just over a year left before it expires. This means that from January onwards, Salah will be eligible to negotiate with other clubs. Despite the heavy interest from Saudi clubs, it is increasingly likely that Salah will stay with Liverpool for the first season under new manager Arne Slot. Saudi clubs are optimistic about their chances of securing his signature on a free transfer once his contract ends next summer.

This situation offers Liverpool a critical window to address Salah’s contract situation to avoid losing him without receiving any transfer fee. Salah, who will be 33 years old when his current £350,000-per-week deal concludes, remains an essential player for Liverpool. Last season, he was the team’s top scorer with 25 goals, a figure that could have been higher had he not sustained an injury during the Africa Cup of Nations in January. Without that injury, he likely would have reached or exceeded the 30-goal mark.

The current developments provide Liverpool with a significant opportunity to extend Salah’s contract, thereby preventing Saudi clubs from acquiring him for free next summer. This situation underscores the urgency for Liverpool to act decisively to retain one of their key players, who continues to be a pivotal figure in the team’s success.

As things stand, Liverpool has several months to negotiate a new deal with Salah. This period is crucial for ensuring that Salah remains at Anfield beyond his current contract and continues to contribute to the team’s goals. The club will need to weigh the benefits of securing Salah’s services for a longer period against the financial considerations of his substantial weekly wage.
