Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Luis Enrique has announced that the Ligue 1 champions intend to be very active in the upcoming summer transfer window. This announcement comes amidst speculation linking PSG with Liverpool’s star player Luis Diaz. Towards the end of the previous season, rumors surfaced suggesting that the Colombian international might make an unexpected move to Paris. Diaz, who is under contract with Liverpool until 2027, is one of several players rumored to be departing the club during a period of significant changes.
PSG is on the lookout for a left-sided forward following the announcement by Kylian Mbappe that he will be leaving the club. Mbappe, who played his final game for PSG in their Coupe de France final victory over Lyon, is widely expected to join Real Madrid. In the closing stages of the season, Bradley Barcola has taken on the role previously filled by Mbappe, but PSG is still expected to sign another wide attacker to bolster their squad. After securing a 2-1 win against Lyon, Enrique discussed the club’s plans for replacing Mbappe in the upcoming season.
Enrique expressed his admiration for Mbappe, saying, “I was fortunate to coach Kylian this season. It’s been tough for him after seven years at the club and all he has achieved. It’s hard to say goodbye.” He acknowledged the unique challenge of replacing a player of Mbappe’s caliber, stating, “There is no substitute for Mbappe. We can’t replace him directly, but we will through the team and by making four, five, or six signings. Kylian’s replacement will be the collective effort of the team, our fans, and our ambition to win everything in the coming seasons.”
Meanwhile, Luis Diaz has recently addressed the speculation surrounding his future. After winning Liverpool’s player of the month award for April, Diaz reflected on his development and his commitment to the club. He said, “I have grown a lot. From the start of my career to now, I feel that with each passing day and year, and through each experience with different teams, coming to this great club that is Liverpool has taught me a lot. You learn more and more to be a professional, to be a better person, a good teammate, and a good guy. I’m very happy to be here. Great years are coming for the club, I have no doubt about that.”
Diaz emphasized his dedication to the team, stating, “Personally, I will always try to do my best, give 100 percent, and always stand out on the field, which is what I came here to do.
