Manchester City defender Kyle Walker recently praised Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold for his outstanding passing abilities, expressing that he has never witnessed anyone pass the ball like the 25-year-old Liverpool star. Walker’s commendation came during an appearance on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, where he discussed Alexander-Arnold’s exceptional skills and his evolution under Jurgen Klopp’s management.

This season, Alexander-Arnold has significantly bolstered his reputation with a series of consistently impressive performances. Klopp’s tactical adjustments have allowed Alexander-Arnold to transition into a more versatile role, frequently stepping into midfield where he can utilize his precise passing to greater effect. Walker described Alexander-Arnold as a “quarterback at right-back,” highlighting his unique ability to deliver pinpoint passes with both feet, whether they be long-range or short, precise deliveries. Walker emphasized that Liverpool’s direct style of play is greatly enhanced by Alexander-Arnold’s passing prowess.

Walker also took the opportunity to defend Alexander-Arnold against critics who often question his defensive capabilities. He acknowledged that while everyone has aspects of their game they can improve upon, Alexander-Arnold has made significant strides in his defensive skills, which is a natural progression with increased experience. Walker pointed out that it is unfair to focus solely on Alexander-Arnold’s defensive weaknesses without recognizing the overall growth and contributions he makes to his team.

Both Walker and Alexander-Arnold have played pivotal roles for their respective clubs throughout the season. Walker has been a consistent presence for Manchester City, making 38 appearances and providing three assists. His performances have been crucial in maintaining City’s defensive solidity and contributing to their attacking play. On the other hand, Alexander-Arnold has been instrumental for Liverpool, scoring two goals and providing ten assists in 29 games. His ability to influence the game from right-back has been a key factor in Liverpool’s successes.

Walker’s comments shed light on the broader footballing community’s appreciation for Alexander-Arnold’s talents. Despite the criticisms, Alexander-Arnold’s ability to deliver high-quality passes and his vision on the field set him apart from many of his peers. His role under Klopp has evolved, demonstrating his adaptability and willingness to grow as a player. This season, his performances have not only silenced some of his critics but have also earned him admiration from fellow professionals like Walker.
