Liverpool’s management has revealed a list of six players set to depart this summer, including one of the team’s star players.

Rumors have been swirling about potential new signings at Liverpool this summer, but there’s also significant speculation surrounding the possible departures of current players. One such player is Luis Diaz, who has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona according to Mundo Deportivo.

Colombian journalist Breinner Arteta Cañizares has provided an update that could be concerning for Liverpool supporters. The 27-year-old winger is currently in the USA, preparing to play for Colombia in the Copa America. Cañizares shared on social media platform X that Diaz’s representatives are set to meet with delegates from a Spanish club in the United States either this week or the next. This meeting suggests that Diaz might be on the verge of leaving Liverpool for La Liga.

This news might unsettle Liverpool fans, especially since Diaz finished the 2023/24 season on a high note. He was one of the standout performers and recently scored in Colombia’s victory over Bolivia. Despite suffering a severe tackle during the game, he fortunately did not sustain any injury.

Liverpool is in a transitional phase, with Jurgen Klopp having been replaced by Arne Slot. During this period, it would be unwise for Liverpool to lose key players. Slot needs time to implement his strategies and work with the existing squad. Losing a vital player like Diaz early in his tenure could disrupt his plans.

Speculation about Liverpool’s interest in other left-sided wingers such as Crysencio Summerville and Kenan Yildiz might have led Diaz to question his role at the club. However, selling a player of Diaz’s caliber without having a ready replacement would be a risky move for Liverpool. Richard Hughes, who is in charge of player transfers, cannot afford to let Diaz go without securing a suitable successor.

Diaz’s potential exit is particularly concerning given his recent form and the impact he has had at Liverpool. Since joining the club, he has been a significant contributor and his departure would leave a considerable void in the squad. The timing of these rumors is also troubling as it comes during a crucial period of transition for Liverpool.

It is hoped that Cañizares’s report might be exaggerated and that Diaz is not actually on the brink of leaving Liverpool. The club and its fans would prefer to see him continue his journey at Anfield, especially given his performances and the positive momentum he has built.
