Manchester United fans called for the dismissal of Erik ten Hag during their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham, following a disastrous performance that began with an early goal conceded and the loss of Bruno Fernandes to a red card. United’s poor first-half display against Ange Postecoglou’s side quickly set the tone for a difficult match. Within just three minutes, Tottenham opened the scoring when Brennan Johnson found the back of the net, converting a cross from Mickey van de Ven. Things only got worse for United as Fernandes was sent off later in the half for an incident where he lashed out at James Maddison.

Spurs capitalized on Manchester United’s struggles and came out stronger in the second half. Dejan Kulusevski added a second goal early after the break, deepening United’s woes. As frustrations mounted, United’s traveling fans began chanting for ten Hag to be sacked, expressing their discontent with the team’s lackluster display. The mood among the supporters became even more hostile after Dominic Solanke netted Tottenham’s third goal, leaving United fans thoroughly frustrated with both the result and the performance. Some had already shown signs of frustration even before halftime, but the situation only worsened as the match progressed.

On social media, fans voiced their anger and disappointment. Some criticized the team’s lack of cohesion and organization under ten Hag’s management, pointing out how the squad appeared disjointed and lacked a clear game plan. One fan called for United to adopt “dark arts” tactics, suggesting the team needed to play with more aggression and edge, and demanded that ten Hag be dismissed. Another fan highlighted how players who are otherwise talented were performing poorly under the manager’s guidance, while others questioned whether ten Hag was capable of turning things around at Old Trafford in the long run.

In the wake of the defeat, pundit Gary Neville offered a harsh assessment of United’s performance, specifically singling out Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford for their roles in the team’s downfall. Neville described the first-half display as one of the worst under ten Hag, calling it “disgraceful.” He was particularly critical of Fernandes for his reckless challenge that led to the red card and questioned Rashford’s poor first touch, which contributed to Tottenham’s opening goal. Neville’s comments reflected the growing concerns over the direction the team was heading under ten Hag’s leadership, adding to the chorus of criticism surrounding the manager after yet another disappointing result.
