Liverpool star Mohamed Salah risks becoming a polarizing figure after announcing plans to leave for a European giant, citing the club’s failure to offer him a new contract.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has hinted that he may be more likely to leave the club at the end of the season rather than extend his stay by signing a new contract. Salah, whose current deal runs until the summer of 2025, has not yet received a contract offer, raising questions about his long-term future at Anfield.

The Egyptian forward, who is Liverpool’s highest-paid player with weekly earnings of around £350,000 plus bonuses, addressed the situation following Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Southampton. Speaking to Paul Gorst of *The Echo*, Salah expressed uncertainty about his future, admitting that no formal offer to extend his contract had been made.

“Well, we are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club, so I’m probably more out than in,” Salah said. Despite his immense love for the club and its fans, the 31-year-old suggested that the decision is beyond his control. “As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future. It’s disappointing, but we will see.”

Salah remains focused on helping Liverpool succeed this season, with his sights set on securing both the Premier League title and the Champions League trophy. “I’m not going to retire soon, so I’m just playing, focusing on the season, and trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well,” he added.

This uncertainty comes amid similar contract concerns for other key players, including Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts are also set to expire in 2025. The lack of clarity over the futures of these critical figures has raised questions about Liverpool’s approach to managing contract negotiations, particularly for a player of Salah’s iconic status at the club.

Salah’s potential departure would undoubtedly leave a significant void in Liverpool’s squad. Since joining the Reds in 2017, the forward has been instrumental in their success, winning numerous trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League, and establishing himself as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.

Fans are now concerned about the prospect of losing Salah, and potentially other key players, for free in 2025 if no action is taken soon. Many believe Liverpool must act decisively to secure the futures of their stars, particularly Salah, whose contributions to the team have been monumental. With negotiations ongoing but no resolution in sight, uncertainty looms large over Anfield as the season progresses.
