Martin Ødegaard addresses teammates with a rallying message following Craven Cottage draw.

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard has called on his teammates to regroup and refocus following their 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. The result was a missed opportunity for the Gunners to narrow the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool, whose derby clash with Everton was postponed. The draw leaves Arsenal six points behind in the title race.

Speaking after his 100th game as Arsenal captain, Ødegaard expressed frustration at the outcome, emphasizing the team’s inability to capitalize on their dominance during the match.

“We didn’t do enough to secure the win,” Ødegaard said in an interview with the club’s official website. “We controlled the game from start to finish—they only had one real opportunity, and unfortunately, they scored from it. We had several key moments, including the disallowed goal near the end, but we needed to be more clinical.”

Ødegaard admitted that while Arsenal showed strength in many areas, they fell short in converting chances, particularly in the attacking third. “We have to be more aggressive and decisive in and around the penalty box,” he explained. “We created some clear opportunities, but this is a game we should have won. It’s disappointing, but now we need to look forward and prepare for the next challenge.”

Arsenal’s frustration was compounded when Bukayo Saka’s late header, which appeared to give them the win, was ruled out by VAR. The decision was based on an offside call against Gabriel Martinelli during the buildup. Despite the setback, Arsenal maintained their strong record from set-pieces, scoring for the fourth consecutive match from a corner. Ødegaard acknowledged this as a positive aspect of their performance but stressed the need for greater efficiency overall.

“We’re consistently dangerous from set-pieces, and it’s something teams now expect from us,” he said. “It’s great that we scored another one today, but there were more opportunities we should have taken advantage of. There’s definitely room for improvement.”

While the result was disappointing, Ødegaard urged his teammates to stay positive and maintain their focus during a packed schedule. He emphasized the importance of quickly moving on and ensuring they secure maximum points in upcoming fixtures.

“The mood in the dressing room is down because we all wanted the win, but we can’t dwell on it,” he concluded. “There’s no time to waste, and we need to bounce back strongly in the next game.”

As Arsenal continues their pursuit of the Premier League title, Ødegaard’s leadership will be crucial in keeping the squad motivated and ready for the challenges ahead.
