Cole Palmer Criticizes Teammate for Poor Performance Against West Ham, Claims He Almost Cost the Team the Match

Chelsea came from behind to earn a vital 2-1 victory over West Ham United at Stamford Bridge, in a match where they showed resilience despite not playing at their best.

West Ham took the lead just before halftime when Jarrod Bowen capitalized on a wayward pass from Chelsea’s Levi Colwill. The visitors’ quick strike put them ahead, and the Blues went into the break trailing. However, Chelsea responded positively after the restart. Pedro Neto, who was introduced as a substitute, made an immediate impact, equalizing for Chelsea early in the second half. Neto reacted quickly to a blocked shot from Enzo Fernandez, finishing from close range to level the scores.

Chelsea then gained the lead when Cole Palmer’s shot deflected off Aaron Wan-Bissaka, looping over West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and into the net. Despite not being at their best, the Blues were able to hold on to their advantage and secure a crucial three points against their London rivals.

Assessing the individual performances of Chelsea’s players, Filip Jorgensen received a rating of 6, as he had some shaky moments but managed to perform adequately overall. Reece James also earned a 6, as he delivered a number of excellent crosses, though his teammates failed to make the most of them. He was substituted before the 60-minute mark.

Tosin Adarabioyo stood out with a solid performance, earning a 7. He attempted progressive passes and made a vital block in the final moments of the match to deny Mohammed Kudus, which proved to be key in Chelsea’s victory. On the other hand, Levi Colwill received a low score of 3 due to his costly error that led to West Ham’s opening goal. He also struggled to contain Kudus throughout the game.

Moises Caicedo, with a rating of 5, had a frustrating game, committing several fouls. While he made a few interceptions, he didn’t meet his usual high standards. Enzo Fernandez, who also received a 6, was proactive in attack, trying to create opportunities despite the lack of attacking support from his teammates.

Noni Madueke’s performance was rated at 5, as he was substituted shortly after the hour mark, failing to continue his recent scoring form. Similarly, Jadon Sancho, who struggled to make an impact, was substituted early in the second half, also receiving a 5. Nicolas Jackson, rated a 5, had a difficult outing and was replaced before the 60-minute mark, possibly due to injury.

The substitutes made a significant difference, with Pedro Neto being the standout player. His instant impact, scoring the equalizer, earned him a rating of 8. Marc Guiu, who replaced Jackson, received a 6 for his hard work, while Malo Gusto and Christopher Nkunku, both substituted in the 61st minute, performed steadily, each earning a 6. Finally, Trevoh Chalobah came on for Palmer during stoppage time, and he was not rated.

Despite a few individual mistakes and a lack of cohesion at times, Chelsea’s determination saw them secure an important victory in a tightly contested match.
