### Chelsea Eyeing Liverpool Duo Amid Transfer Payback Speculation
Liverpool made headlines last year when they successfully secured the signing of highly-rated academy talent Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea. Now, it appears the London club might be planning to return the favor by targeting two key players from the Reds’ squad.
While several footballers have played for both clubs—such as Fernando Torres, Daniel Sturridge, Joe Cole, Raul Meireles, and Bolo Zenden—direct transfers between Liverpool and Chelsea have been rare in recent times. However, recent reports indicate that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is keen on making an ambitious double swoop on the current Premier League leaders.
According to *Antena2*, via *CaughtOffside*, Chelsea are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Luis Díaz. The Blues may look to take advantage of alleged concerns over the Colombian winger’s wages at Anfield and are prepared to make him one of the club’s highest earners should he make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, *TBR Football*, citing journalist Graeme Bailey, has reported that Chelsea are also closely monitoring Liverpool’s backup goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher. The West London side is believed to be seeking reinforcements between the posts due to uncertainties surrounding Robert Sánchez’s performances and long-term future.
### Could Liverpool Allow Díaz and Kelleher to Leave?
The prospect of Liverpool engaging in negotiations with Chelsea remains unclear, given the long-standing competitive nature of their relationship. While they may not be direct title rivals at the moment, past encounters have fueled tensions between the two clubs, making such transfers more complicated.
Among the two rumored targets, Kelleher appears to be the more feasible signing for Chelsea. The 26-year-old has impressed whenever called upon, especially during Alisson Becker’s injury layoff this season. In his 16 appearances so far, Kelleher has showcased his ability at both Premier League and Champions League levels. However, despite his talent, he remains Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper behind Alisson, making a summer departure a strong possibility if he seeks regular first-team football.
On the other hand, Chelsea’s chances of securing a deal for Díaz seem significantly lower. The Colombian international has been a crucial figure in Liverpool’s attack under new manager Arne Slot, having already notched 12 goals in 32 appearances this season. With over two years remaining on his current contract, Liverpool hold a strong position in negotiations and are unlikely to part ways with one of their key players. In fact, the Merseyside club may even consider offering Díaz a contract extension to prevent him from facing a similar situation to Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose futures at Anfield have recently been questioned due to contract uncertainties.
While Chelsea could have a realistic opportunity to sign Kelleher in the upcoming transfer window, securing Díaz’s services from Liverpool seems highly improbable in the near future.
