Liverpool consider Newcastle’s Alexander Isak as a possible successor to Darwin Núñez after his impressive season.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly prepared to move on from Darwin Núñez this summer, with the club already identifying several potential replacements. According to sources at *CaughtOffside*, the Reds are willing to part ways with the Uruguayan striker as they look to revamp their attacking options ahead of the new season.

    ### Núñez’s Struggles and Liverpool’s Transfer Plans

Núñez joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 with high expectations, but he has struggled to establish himself as the team’s undisputed first-choice striker. His inconsistency in front of goal has been a concern, and despite flashes of brilliance, he has failed to deliver on a regular basis. As a result, it appears that Slot is ready to explore alternative options in attack, with Liverpool now open to selling the forward during the upcoming transfer window.

The club has reportedly drawn up a shortlist of possible replacements, with four names emerging as serious contenders. Newcastle United’s star forward Alexander Isak is believed to be at the top of Liverpool’s list, given his impressive form in the Premier League. Other options under consideration include Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, French international Marcus Thuram, and Algerian forward Mohamed Amoura.

Liverpool supporters may welcome these potential reinforcements, as Isak and Watkins, in particular, are viewed as significant upgrades over Núñez. Isak has been a standout performer for Newcastle, showcasing his ability to score consistently in the English top flight. Meanwhile, Watkins has been a crucial figure for Aston Villa and has continued to improve under Unai Emery’s management.

    ### What’s Next for Liverpool’s Attack?

Liverpool’s success in securing a new striker will largely depend on their ability to find a buyer for Núñez. While his physical attributes and work rate make him an appealing option for certain teams, his inconsistency may pose a challenge in attracting top suitors. Nevertheless, if the Reds can offload him, they could push ahead with their pursuit of a high-caliber replacement.

However, Liverpool’s transfer priorities may shift depending on the future of Mohamed Salah. With the Egyptian star’s contract set to expire soon, there is a possibility that he could leave the club. If Salah departs, Liverpool might focus on signing a winger rather than concentrating solely on strengthening the center-forward position.

Even if Salah moves on, a marquee signing like Isak could still be a viable option, given his proven track record in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Watkins remains a tempting prospect, especially after Villa rejected an approach from Arsenal for him in the January transfer window. The England international has been a key player for Villa and could be enticed by the opportunity to join a club of Liverpool’s stature.

Ultimately, Liverpool’s attacking setup next season could look significantly different, depending on how these transfer decisions unfold.
