Liverpool considers Newcastle’s Alexander Isak as a possible replacement for Darwin Núñez after his impressive season.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly willing to part ways with Darwin Núñez this summer, as the club explores alternative options to strengthen their attacking lineup. According to *CaughtOffside*, the Reds have already identified four potential replacements for the Uruguayan striker, signaling a shift in their forward planning.

    ### Núñez’s Difficulties and Liverpool’s Forward Strategy

Since joining Liverpool from Benfica in 2022, Núñez has struggled to establish himself as the undisputed first-choice striker. While he has shown flashes of brilliance, his inconsistency in front of goal has frustrated both fans and coaching staff. As a result, Slot appears to have lost confidence in the forward, prompting Liverpool to consider offloading him in the upcoming transfer window.

Liverpool’s recruitment team has reportedly compiled a shortlist of potential replacements, with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak emerging as a prime target. Isak’s impressive form in the Premier League has made him an attractive option, as he possesses the technical ability, finishing prowess, and versatility that could seamlessly fit into Liverpool’s attacking setup.

Other forwards on Liverpool’s radar include Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Marcus Thuram of Inter Milan, and Mohamed Amoura, who plays for Union Saint-Gilloise. Watkins, in particular, has been one of the standout performers in the English top flight, contributing significantly to Aston Villa’s success. His pace, work rate, and finishing ability make him a strong candidate for Liverpool’s attack, especially considering Villa rejected Arsenal’s approach for him in January.

    ### Liverpool’s Attacking Future and Key Decisions

The feasibility of bringing in a new striker will largely depend on Liverpool’s ability to find a suitable buyer for Núñez. While the Uruguayan still has potential, his inconsistency means Liverpool may be willing to cut their losses and reinvest in a more reliable goal scorer.

However, Liverpool’s transfer plans could take a different direction if Mohamed Salah departs at the end of his contract. If the Egyptian winger leaves, the club may prioritize securing a direct replacement for him rather than focusing solely on a central striker. In such a scenario, Liverpool’s approach to the market would shift toward reinforcing the right-wing position, where Salah has been instrumental over the years.

Despite this potential shift in priorities, a marquee signing like Isak remains a strong possibility. His ability to play both centrally and in wide attacking roles makes him a valuable asset, particularly if Liverpool undergoes significant changes in their forward line. Watkins, too, remains a viable option, as his performances for Villa have proven his capability to thrive at a higher level.

Liverpool supporters will be keen to see how the club navigates these key decisions, with the summer transfer window shaping up to be crucial for the Reds’ long-term ambitions.
