Major setback for Liverpool as a crucial player suffers injury on international duty, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Liverpool fans have had a challenging week, and their concerns may not be easing anytime soon, as another injury setback looms—this time involving Ben Doak.

According to *The Northern Echo*, Michael Carrick recently discussed Doak’s chances of playing again before the season concludes. While he did not provide a definitive answer, he acknowledged that the situation could go either way. Carrick emphasized that Middlesbrough remains in close communication with Liverpool regarding Doak’s condition. He confirmed that the young winger has returned to his parent club for further assessment, and both sides will continue to monitor his recovery before making any final decisions. Without speculating too much, the focus will be on seeing how things unfold in the coming weeks.

This injury is undoubtedly frustrating for the 19-year-old, who had been enjoying a productive loan spell at Middlesbrough before this setback. Throughout the season, Doak made a strong impression, registering three goals and providing seven assists in 24 appearances. His performances in the Championship showcased his attacking flair and ability to influence games, making him a valuable asset for Michael Carrick’s side. However, with his recovery taking longer than initially expected, there is now significant uncertainty about whether he will be able to feature again before the campaign ends.

Doak’s contributions at Middlesbrough have not gone unnoticed, and his teammate Tommy Conway has spoken highly of his confidence and impact since arriving in the northeast. His performances have earned widespread recognition, further enhancing his reputation as a promising young talent. With Liverpool expected to undergo some changes in their attacking options this summer, there is a possibility that Doak could have an opportunity to stake a claim for first-team football under the club’s new manager, Arne Slot.

However, concerns about his injury record are beginning to mount. The Scottish winger, who emerged as a bright prospect at Celtic before moving to Anfield, has already faced several fitness setbacks during his young career. Middlesbrough had initially hoped that he would be able to return to training weeks ago, but his rehabilitation has not progressed as quickly as anticipated.

As the current season approaches its final stretch, Doak’s primary focus should now be on regaining full fitness ahead of pre-season. Rather than rushing back and risking further complications, ensuring a complete recovery will be crucial for his long-term development. If he can return to peak condition in time for Liverpool’s preparations for the next campaign, he may still have a chance to make a strong impression and push for a role in the first team at Anfield.
