**”Bruno Fernandes points fingers at Manchester United teammate after Bournemouth draw.”**

Bruno Fernandes appeared to send a subtle message to Rasmus Højlund, despite the young striker managing to rescue a point for Manchester United in their 1-1 draw against Bournemouth. In the closing stages of the match, Højlund managed to equalize by diverting a shot from Manuel Ugarte into the net. Earlier in the game, Bournemouth had taken the lead through Antoine Semenyo. Even after Bournemouth were reduced to 10 men following Evanilson’s red card, United struggled to assert their dominance.

Although Højlund’s late goal was crucial in avoiding defeat, his overall output this season has been underwhelming. The goal against Bournemouth was just his fourth in 29 Premier League appearances — a disappointing return for a player wearing the prestigious number nine shirt at Old Trafford.

Following the match, Fernandes acknowledged Højlund’s contribution but also made it clear that greater expectations come with playing as Manchester United’s leading striker. Speaking in a post-match interview with MUTV, the United captain emphasized the demands associated with the role. “Strikers are measured by the number of goals they score,” Fernandes explained. “Wearing the number nine shirt for Manchester United carries a huge responsibility — and Rasmus understands that well. It’s a standard not just set for him but for every one of us at this club.”

Fernandes continued by stressing that players capable of scoring goals must step up when the opportunities arise. He highlighted that seizing chances is vital to success, not only for individual players but for the team as a whole. “Today, it was Rasmus who managed to find the net, and we’re all genuinely happy for him,” Fernandes added. “Hopefully, this goal will help build his confidence and allow him to gain some momentum as we head into the final stages of the season.”

While Fernandes’s remarks certainly included praise for Højlund’s important goal, his comments also served as a reminder of the high expectations placed on players at Manchester United — especially those tasked with leading the attack. By emphasizing the pressure and accountability that come with being the club’s main striker, Fernandes subtly made it clear that more is expected from Højlund moving forward. His words reflected a mix of encouragement and challenge, suggesting that while the team supports the young forward, they also recognize the need for greater consistency and impact if United are to achieve their ambitions.
