Liverpool player’s future uncertain as Manchester United show interest

**Liverpool Poised to Part Ways with Kostas Tsimikas This Summer**

Reports from *Football Insider* suggest that Liverpool are preparing to move on from left-back Kostas Tsimikas during the upcoming summer transfer window. While the Greek defender has been a reliable presence in the squad since his arrival in 2020, the club no longer sees him as a key figure in their future defensive strategy.

Tsimikas was signed from Olympiacos five years ago and has largely played a supporting role behind first-choice left-back Andy Robertson. Despite his limited starting opportunities, he has played an important part in Liverpool’s recent successes, including their Premier League title-winning campaign. Over time, Tsimikas earned a reputation as a consistent and dependable squad player, making 114 appearances across various domestic and European competitions.

However, with changes on the horizon at Anfield, Tsimikas appears to have fallen out of favor. The club’s leadership is reportedly aiming to refresh the defense, particularly as Robertson’s dominance in the position has started to decline. Rather than elevating Tsimikas into a more prominent role, Liverpool seem to have made the decision to part company with the 28-year-old defender, who remains under contract until 2027.

As part of their plans, Liverpool are expected to place Tsimikas on the transfer list in the coming weeks. In preparation for his departure, the club has already identified a preferred replacement. Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has emerged as the leading candidate to fill the left-back position moving forward. The Hungarian international, known for his pace and attacking intent, has impressed in the Premier League, and his performances have drawn the attention of the Liverpool scouting department.

Former Arsenal striker and football pundit Ian Wright recently claimed that a deal for Kerkez is “probably done,” underscoring the seriousness of Liverpool’s interest. If completed, the transfer would mark a significant shift in the team’s defensive setup and signal a broader transition under the club’s evolving strategy.

Tsimikas leaves behind a legacy of memorable contributions, including some standout moments that endeared him to the Liverpool faithful. One of the most iconic was his match-winning penalty in the 2022 FA Cup final. More recently, he delivered the crucial assist for Virgil van Dijk’s extra-time winner in the 2024 EFL Cup final. Beyond his on-field contributions, he is also known for his strong personal relationships within the squad, particularly with Mohamed Salah. Tsimikas once remarked, “Mo is one of my best mates… He’s always been there for me, and we spend a lot of time talking at the training ground.”

With both Tsimikas and Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave, Liverpool are expected to be highly active in the transfer market as they seek reinforcements for both full-back positions ahead of the new season.
