Jordan Pickford names the only Manchester United player who truly stood out against Everton.

Jordan Pickford left both fans and pundits stunned after Everton’s tense showdown with Manchester United, revealing something few expected to hear from him. Despite Everton’s victory and United ending the game with ten men, Pickford’s post-match comments weren’t about the three points — they were about the one United player who genuinely rattled him. A player whose power, relentlessness, and sheer ferocity left the England goalkeeper visibly shaken. And coming from someone who has stood up to some of the Premier League’s most brutal attackers, his confession felt more like a warning to the rest of the league than simple praise.

Everton may have celebrated the win at Goodison Park, but as soon as the cameras turned to Pickford, it was clear the story wasn’t that straightforward. Rather than enjoying the moment, he spoke with disbelief about the forward who made the afternoon far more chaotic than the scoreboard suggested. Pickford didn’t try to soften the truth or laugh it off. His voice carried the weight of what he had just faced as he admitted, “Even with them down to ten men and us winning at home… I’m telling you, I haven’t faced anyone this intensely dangerous all season. Some of those shots today could have seriously hurt me.” For a goalkeeper widely known for his swagger and fearlessness, the honesty of that statement shocked everyone listening.

What made his admission even more surprising was the identity of the player he referenced. It wasn’t Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings. It wasn’t Marcus Rashford cutting inside. And it wasn’t Rasmus Højlund battling in the box. Instead, Pickford singled out the one United attacker who refused to fade even as the match slipped away — the one repeatedly launching efforts from every position, every angle, as if determined to drag his team back by force alone. His strikes were described as venomous, unpredictable, and fired with the desperation of someone who simply didn’t accept defeat.

Pickford said the attempts felt like “bullets from nowhere,” and Everton defenders could be heard warning him constantly because this United striker only needed the smallest gap to do real damage.

United left Goodison with nothing to show on the table, but that player earned something far harder to win: shaken, reluctant respect from one of the league’s toughest goalkeepers. The next time Pickford sees him preparing to unleash a shot, he’ll remember the missiles that almost broke through — and so will the rest of the Premier League.
