VAR once again denied Arsenal: Witness Trossard’s disallowed goal attributed to VAR mistake – PGMOL provides reasoning for the disallowed goal – Raises concerns about impartiality as English referees appear to favor Manchester City in the league race once more.

Piers Morgan expressed his frustration with VAR, claiming it’s “wrecking football” after Brentford’s goal against Arsenal was disallowed. The disallowed goal occurred when Leandro Trossard scored from a Bukayo Saka cross, but VAR intervened, ruling Trossard offside by a small margin as he headed in the rebound from Gabriel Jesus’s attempt.

Despite the controversy, Arsenal fans, including Morgan, voiced their discontent on social media. Morgan, a vocal Arsenal supporter, took to Twitter (now called X) to exclaim, “FFS… VAR destroying football once more. I really dislike it.” Many Arsenal supporters echoed this sentiment, with some declaring that “VAR hates Arsenal” and criticizing its impact on the game.

The contentious decision added pressure on Arsenal, tied at halftime, to score again in the second half. Although their nerves were tested, Oleksandr Zinchenko’s goal-line block and a late header from substitute Kai Havertz secured a crucial victory for Arsenal in the 89th minute.

The online reaction reflected a broader sentiment among fans, with some labeling VAR as a “liar” and others deeming it a “joke.” The frustration seemed to stem from the perceived inconsistency and contentious nature of VAR decisions, as illustrated by the marginal offside call in the Brentford-Arsenal match.

Ultimately, Havertz’s late goal salvaged the game for Arsenal, alleviating some of the tension created by the VAR controversy. However, the incident reignited debates about the role of VAR in football and its impact on the enjoyment of the sport for fans, with opinions sharply divided on whether it enhances or detracts from the game.
