David de Gea is poised for a football comeback after officially joining his new club.

After leaving Manchester United in the summer, David de Gea is on the verge of making a comeback to competitive football. Two Spanish teams are considering signing the former Manchester United goalkeeper. During the summer transfer window, numerous clubs pursued the 32-year-old Spanish goalkeeper, with teams from the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer expressing strong interest. However, De Gea turned down these offers in favor of a return to Spain. Real Betis and Valencia are now potential destinations for the free agent, both expressing interest in acquiring his services.

Since parting ways with Manchester United in June, De Gea has been without a club but has maintained his fitness through individual training sessions. The veteran goalkeeper, who spent 12 years at Old Trafford, witnessed a decline in performance over the past two seasons. This decline prompted Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, to secure Andre Onana from Inter Milan as a replacement.

In weighing his options, Real Betis seems to be the more suitable choice for De Gea. The club, based in Seville, is currently facing a goalkeeper crisis due to an injury to their regular goalkeeper, Rui Silva, and the return of the 40-year-old Claudio Bravo after an extended absence. Consequently, the former Manchester United star could offer a more reliable solution.

Conversely, a move to Valencia would present challenges for De Gea. The 32-year-old would face stiff competition from the young Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and is not guaranteed to be a starter every week.

De Gea’s potential return to Spain has generated significant attention, and his next footballing destination remains uncertain. It will be interesting to see where he chooses to resume his career, with both Real Betis and Valencia vying for his signature.
