Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho appears poised for a temporary departure, with strong indications pointing toward a loan move back to Borussia Dortmund. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the clubs are currently underway, awaiting approval for Sancho to join Dortmund’s winter training camp.
Sancho, who made a high-profile €85 million move from Dortmund to Manchester United in 2021, showcased his talents with 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances. However, his Premier League journey hit a setback when a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag in September led to his exclusion from the first-team squad. Despite declining requests to apologize and reclaim his position, Sancho has seen no game time since the incident.
A January departure seemed inevitable, and now, a potential six-month loan return to Borussia Dortmund is in the works. Although Romano suggests the deal isn’t finalized, preparations for Sancho’s move to Dortmund’s camp in Marbella are underway. The final stages of negotiations hinge on a fee of approximately €4 million, covering the loan and salary aspects.
Dortmund’s winter training camp in Marbella involves friendly matches against AZ Alkmaar on January 6 and Standard Liege on January 9, leading up to their Bundesliga return match against Darmstadt on January 13.
This potential loan move signifies a significant shift for Sancho, providing him the opportunity to reignite his career at a familiar club where he previously thrived. The ongoing discussions emphasize the financial aspects of the deal, with both clubs working towards a resolution that accommodates the loan arrangement and salary considerations.
As the talks progress, attention is focused on whether the talented winger will successfully return to Dortmund and potentially rediscover his form during this loan spell.
