Despite my best efforts to entice him to Manchester City, our star Kelvin De Bruyne confirms that our £70 million international teammate is on the verge of joining Arsenal this week, having reached a verbal agreement with them.

Arsenal is poised to make a substantial payment, estimated at a minimum of £60 million, to secure the services of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana during the upcoming January transfer window. Onana, who made the move to Everton from Lille in June 2022 for approximately £33 million, has proven to be a pivotal player under manager Sean Dyche, accumulating 56 appearances and contributing three goals and three assists since his arrival.

While the 22-year-old Belgian midfielder’s contract with Everton is set to extend until June 2027, speculations have emerged linking him with a potential move to a European club. Manchester United is reportedly closely monitoring Onana’s situation, fueled by rumors that Everton might be compelled to sell key players to adhere to Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Recent reports indicate Arsenal’s keen interest in Onana, with suggestions that discussions have been initiated with Everton for a January transfer deal. However, Everton has reportedly set a steep £60 million asking price for Onana and seems reluctant to part ways with him this month.

Despite Everton facing a challenging season, marked by a 10-point deduction imposed by the Premier League in November, Onana remains a vital component in Dyche’s squad. It’s worth noting that Everton’s highest previous sale was the £75 million transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in 2017.

The pivotal question revolves around whether Arsenal, having already exceeded a £200 million expenditure in the previous summer on players like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber, is willing to make another significant investment. Onana is identified as a potential midfield target for the Gunners, particularly considering uncertainties surrounding the futures of players such as Mohamed Elneny, Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and Emile Smith Rowe.
