Liverpool is reportedly keeping a close eye on Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, considering a potential transfer move in the upcoming window. According to sources from Football Insider, Liverpool’s recruitment team has deployed elite scouts to regularly observe the 22-year-old forward, who has garnered interest from various other clubs.
Olise showcased his talent with a notable performance, scoring twice in Palace’s 3-1 comeback victory against Brentford in the Premier League, ending the club’s recent struggle for positive results. This standout display positions the Frenchman as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, who is entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool next summer.
Football Insider discloses that Liverpool is evaluating Olise as a potential attacking target, strategically eyeing him for the future, despite the youngster committing to a four-year deal with Palace in August. Salah, who attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, is expected to remain at Anfield at least until the next summer transfer window.
Known for his versatility, Olise can seamlessly adapt to various positions, including midfielder, the number 10 role, both wide flanks, and even as a center-forward or false nine.
Despite facing fitness setbacks this season, Liverpool has closely monitored Olise’s progress for five years, dating back to his debut with Reading as a remarkably talented 17-year-old. In the current Premier League season, he has primarily featured as a right-sided forward, tallying five goals and providing one assist in nine appearances.
