Manager Mauricio Pochettino reflects on the challenging situation at Chelsea, pointing fingers at his predecessors, Frank Lampard and Graham Potter. Last season’s dismal performance, resulting in a 12th-place finish, has cast a negative atmosphere at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino humorously jabs at Lampard and Potter, holding them responsible for Chelsea’s downfall. He attributes his own lack of success to the events that unfolded before his tenure, emphasizing the need for improvement. To change the atmosphere at the Bridge, Pochettino understands the importance of securing victories.

Ahead of the Carabao Cup quarterfinal second-leg against Middlesbrough, Pochettino acknowledges the repercussions of the 18 months preceding his arrival. Despite only six months into the current season, he notes that the fans remain disappointed due to past seasons’ underwhelming performances. Pochettino recognizes a disconnect between the team and the fans, particularly evident in games against Brentford and Nottingham Forest, resulting in low energy. He admits to a mistake but praises the fans for their fantastic support in subsequent matches.

Pochettino emphasizes the need for his team to start winning to mend the environment at Stamford Bridge. While acknowledging improved performance in the current season, he acknowledges lingering disappointment among fans from previous seasons. The manager is aware of the team’s responsibility to engage with supporters and rectify the earlier disconnect experienced during certain matches.
