Brazilian football icon Ronaldo predicts that Chelsea won’t win the FA Cup in the near future.

Chelsea once again found themselves in a challenging situation, needing two late goals to secure a 4-2 victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup, despite Callum Doyle’s red card. Mauricio Pochettino, in his first season with the club, reaches his second cup semi-final, aiming to avenge their League Cup defeat to Liverpool.

The game at SW6 started with Chelsea taking a comfortable 2-0 lead into halftime, but things took a turn in the second half. Marc Cucurella scored early, followed by a chaotic own goal from Axel Disasi and a stunning long-range curler from Stephy Mavididi, equalizing the game.

Raheem Sterling, despite setting up Cole Palmer’s goal, had a poor performance and was booed off after a skied free-kick. The game shifted with a red card for Chelsea, but they clinched victory with brilliant goals from Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke in added time.

The defensive frailties of Chelsea have been evident, conceding two goals in each of their last four matches. Pochettino has experimented with various full-back combinations, often featuring attacking-minded players like Malo Gusto and Marc Cucurella, which sometimes leaves space for opponents to exploit.

Pochettino defended his substitution decisions in a press conference, emphasizing his focus on tactical analysis and not catering to external pressures. He acknowledged the need for improvement and further recruitment to address Chelsea’s position in the table.

Despite significant investment, Chelsea still lack a creative midfielder to orchestrate play effectively. Additionally, defensive reinforcements and a goalkeeper with better distribution skills are desired. Pochettino emphasizes the remaining matches to improve their league standing and attract future signings to the project.

In essence, Chelsea’s victory over Leicester highlights both their strengths and weaknesses, prompting reflections on tactical adjustments and potential recruitment strategies to bolster the squad.
