“Alan Shearer: Real Madrid Unlikely to Recruit Players of This Caliber; Urges Ten Hag to Bench Them Against Chelsea to Avoid Potential Loss”

    adminBy adminApril 4, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

Renowned for his exceptional goal-scoring abilities during his active years, Alan Shearer’s legacy as a premier striker in the English Premier League is firmly cemented with an astonishing record of 260 goals, marking him as a legendary figure in football history.

Over the course of his illustrious career, which saw stints at esteemed clubs such as Southampton, Blackburn Rovers, and his cherished hometown team, Newcastle United, Shearer left an enduring impact on the sport.

Transitioning seamlessly into the world of punditry following his retirement, the 53-year-old has become a familiar presence on BBC, providing insightful commentary to audiences. In a recent segment on The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer didn’t hold back from identifying two Manchester United players whom he believes would have caused him considerable frustration had they played alongside him.

Expressing his exasperation with wingers who have a tendency to cut inside onto their dominant foot instead of delivering crosses, Shearer singled out Antony and Garnacho as prime examples of this vexing habit.

In his candid assessment, Shearer remarked, “That would drive me crazy playing for Man Utd with those two, Antony and Garnacho, who keep doing that all the time.”

Shearer’s criticism of Antony isn’t novel; he had previously voiced his concerns on Match of the Day, highlighting the Brazilian winger’s predictable inclination to cut inside onto his left foot, thereby enabling defenders to anticipate and neutralize his movements effectively.

While Shearer’s irritation centers on wingers’ reluctance to deliver crosses, former Manchester City defender Micah Richards added his own frustration: midfielders opting for backward passes instead of seizing opportunities to advance the play.

Meanwhile, podcast host Gary Lineker injected a dose of levity, sharing his disdain for players who theatrically fall to the ground at the slightest contact, likening their reactions to being struck by a sniper.
