Arteta’s unequal treatment of players prompted my departure from Arsenal, reveals £40 million player who left the Emirates last summer – Not Aubameyang.

The current situation at Arsenal appears stable, yet amid the calmness, a hint of sadness lingers among fans due to a departed player in January. Mikel Arteta’s squad witnessed a month without significant disruptions, positioning itself for substantial summer spending. Within the Arsenal camp, there’s a lingering hope that they might finally pursue Brentford’s Ivan Toney, a player of interest for some time.

Certainly, Arteta’s team holds considerable sway in the transfer market, aiming to attract talents like Declan Rice. However, this pursuit of external talent comes with a price, widening the gap between the club’s first team and the Hale End academy. The path from academy to first team seems increasingly distant, with Bukayo Saka likely representing the pinnacle of such transitions for the time being.

In this context, Lino Sousa chose to part ways with Arsenal in January, seeking better opportunities at Aston Villa. Despite building a solid reputation in North London, Sousa believed his future prospects were brighter elsewhere. Shortly after leaving Villa, he secured a loan move to Plymouth Argyle for the rest of the season.

Sousa has shed light on his decision to depart Arsenal, sharing insights with Plymouth Live. His sudden exit from Arsenal puzzled fans in late January, prompting many to question the reasoning behind his departure. Nonetheless, Sousa has clarified, emphasizing his desire for regular first-team football as the driving force behind his move, whether at Arsenal or elsewhere. In his view, Villa provided the optimal platform and plan to achieve this ambition, prompting his conscious decision to leave.
