Barcelona Manager Xavi Urges the Board to Secure the Signing of Manchester City’s Star Player in January, Highlighting a Desire to Prove His Coaching Prowess over Pep Guardiola’s Management.

In recent reports, it has come to light that Barcelona is considering a move for Julian Alvarez, an attacker currently with Manchester City. Alvarez, a 23-year-old World Cup winner, has often found himself in the shadow of Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland during his time at the Etihad Stadium. However, due to injuries to other players, Alvarez has managed to participate in just 13 games this season, boasting a record of six goals and five assists.

During the 2021/2022 season, Manchester City acquired the Argentina international from River Plate for a mere £14 million. He is contracted to City until 2028. Nevertheless, Barcelona’s interest in Alvarez remains strong, as they seek a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Reports suggest that Alvarez, with a release clause of £43.4 million, is a primary target for the Camp Nou.

According to sources, Barcelona’s manager Xavi and sporting director Deco both hold Alvarez in high regard and will be closely monitoring his situation. As for AC Milan, the Italian giants are apparently planning to make a move for Sergio Gomez, a left-back at Manchester City. Gomez, aged 23, has struggled to establish himself as a regular player since joining City.

Milan’s interest in Gomez is driven by his age, talent, and versatility. They have reportedly proposed a transfer fee ranging from €18 million to €20 million. Gomez, who has only started two Premier League games since his summer arrival at City, faces competition from Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol, both of whom are ahead of him in the pecking order. His contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to run until 2026.

To sum up, both Barcelona and AC Milan are eyeing Manchester City players for potential transfers. Julian Alvarez’s impressive potential and release clause make him a target for Barcelona, while AC Milan sees potential in Sergio Gomez due to his youth and versatility. The football transfer market remains dynamic, and these potential moves could shape the future of these players’ careers and the dynamics of top football clubs.
