**Breaking News: Mikel Obi Reveals Key Requirement for Manchester United to Secure Osimhen as Transfer Talks Resume**

    adminBy adminMay 1, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Victor Osimhen’s potential move during the 2025 summer transfer window is shaping up to be one of the most discussed topics in the football world. With his departure from Napoli confirmed after four years at the club, and his current loan spell at Galatasaray also coming to an end, many top European clubs are now on high alert. Premier League giants Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United are among the top suitors eyeing the Nigerian striker, while interest from Juventus in Italy and Saudi clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli adds further competition.

However, Osimhen’s future could hinge on a significant condition revealed by his close ally and former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel. In a recent appearance on *beIN Sports*, Mikel made it clear that Osimhen is unlikely to consider Manchester United if they fail to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for next season. When asked directly whether the striker would move to United without Champions League football, Mikel responded bluntly: “If that’s the case, then he doesn’t go to United.”

At the moment, Manchester United’s path to Champions League qualification through the Premier League looks bleak, as they currently sit in 14th place with only four matches remaining. Their only viable route into the competition is by winning the UEFA Europa League. They are still in the running, set to face Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals, and would meet either Tottenham or Bodø Glimt if they advance to the final.

Despite the uncertainty around their Champions League hopes, Manchester United reportedly remain serious contenders for Osimhen’s signature. Transfer News Live suggests the club is prepared to activate his £64 million release clause—an amount considered fair for a striker of his calibre. Still, Mikel’s comments strongly imply that Champions League participation could be a deal-breaker, making United’s Europa League campaign all the more crucial if they wish to stay in contention.

Meanwhile, Chelsea appear to be heavily favored by Mikel, who has urged the club to sign Osimhen. He has been critical of current striker Nicolas Jackson and emphasized the need for a reliable goal-scorer like Osimhen. According to Mikel, the Nigerian forward is exactly what Chelsea have been missing this season, pointing out that the team has squandered many clear scoring opportunities.
