Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has recently ended the contract of one of the three underperforming summer signings, and the player will be excluded from club participation until departing in January.

Chelsea is gearing up for a significant shakeup in their squad, with three players on the chopping block in a £110 million transfer spree. This decision comes shortly after manager Mauricio Pochettino urged the club’s board to enhance the team’s roster following a disappointing 2-0 loss to Everton.

The Blues find themselves in 12th place in the Premier League, mirroring their finish from the previous season, despite a hefty £400 million investment in new players during the summer. Pochettino specifically seeks a new center forward, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in the transfer rumor mill.

To navigate UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, Chelsea must sell players in January to afford a marquee striker. Three players reportedly on the way out are Trevor Chalobah, Ian Maatsen, and Noni Madueke.

Chalobah, sidelined this season due to injury, is likely to depart, with Crystal Palace expressing interest. Meanwhile, Maatsen, a Dutch left-back, may be headed to Borussia Dortmund in a potential January move. Madueke, who joined Chelsea from PSV in January for £28.5 million, is struggling to make an impact under Pochettino.

Additional players facing potential departures include Marc Cucurella and Armando Broja as Chelsea aims to rebalance its finances. Cucurella, filling in for the injured Ben Chilwell, and Broja, who scored once this season, are under scrutiny after the team’s lackluster start.

It’s evident that Chelsea’s quest to reinforce their squad comes at the cost of parting ways with underperforming players, signaling a strategic move to address both on-field challenges and financial considerations.
