Paul Merson has provided insights into the upcoming Premier League clash between Chelsea and Manchester United, warning Erik ten Hag of the significant pressure he could face if his team fails to perform in their next two fixtures.
Scheduled for Thursday night, Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea will host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. Both teams are coming off disappointing results prior to the international break, with Chelsea being held to a 2-2 draw by ten-man Burnley and United scraping a 1-1 draw against Brentford.
Pochettino’s debut season at Stamford Bridge has been challenging, with Chelsea languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table with only 10 games remaining. Despite significant investment in new players under Todd Boehly’s ownership, totaling nearly £1 billion, Chelsea finds themselves closer to the relegation zone than to the league leaders, Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Manchester United, although currently positioned five spots and eight points ahead of Chelsea, has also faced disappointment this season, notably being eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage.
