Furious United icon slams Rúben Amorim on live TV after the embarrassing defeat to 10-man Everton, revealing the “true cause” of the team’s downfall.

A Manchester United legend erupted on live TV after what many supporters are calling a humiliating collapse, accusing Rúben Amorim of granting a select group of out-of-form players untouchable status. In his view, the manager’s refusal to rotate the squad is eroding confidence, fracturing the dressing room, and steering the club toward internal turmoil.

The outburst came in response to United’s disappointing performance against a 10-man Everton side — a match they were widely expected to control with ease. But to the former United star, the draw (or loss, depending on different accounts) went far beyond tactical shortcomings. He believed the result exposed a deeper structural issue within the team.

He argued that Amorim continues to trust the same underperforming players week after week. These individuals — despite their poor form — walk into the starting XI as though their places are permanently reserved. According to him, that’s the root of United’s current problems.

“We’re watching players who should be battling for their positions casually stroll onto the pitch like it’s a given,” he fumed. “That isn’t competition — it’s complacency. And complacency is exactly what destroys football clubs.”

His core point is that by shielding certain favourites, Amorim is effectively suggesting effort is optional and accountability is selective. He went further, warning that this culture of “undroppables” is poisoning the squad atmosphere. Those who feel secure lose their sharpness, while hardworking squad members see no path to earning opportunities. Instead of unity, that dynamic breeds resentment.

He also criticised Amorim for hiding behind excuses rather than making the bold decisions required to fix the situation, insisting the club’s identity has shifted from meritocracy to entitlement.

What makes this criticism even more concerning is that Amorim himself has acknowledged the problems. He has admitted being “embarrassed” by the team’s lack of urgency and accepted that United is “losing the feeling of being a massive club.” After another poor cup outing, he conceded that change is necessary.

Outside voices have echoed these concerns. Joe Cole has branded Amorim “extremely stubborn,” while Wayne Rooney has claimed something fundamental is “broken” within the squad under his leadership. Such comments are rarely made lightly.

Now United stands at a crossroads. If Amorim continues relying on the same struggling players, morale could plummet further, divisions may deepen, and faith in his leadership may fade. However, if he drops those off form, rewards hunger, and restores true competition for places, the atmosphere around Old Trafford could shift quickly.

Ultimately, the legend’s message wasn’t about one result — it was a warning of a worsening, self-created crisis that Amorim must address before the cracks become irreversible.
