Pep Guardiola expressed frustration over Manchester City’s inability to defeat Chelsea, attributing the draw to bad luck and a lackluster first half performance. Despite holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw with Rodri’s late goal equalizing Raheem Sterling’s opener, City now trails behind Liverpool by four points and Arsenal by two.

Guardiola acknowledged the game’s quality, emphasizing a stronger second half performance but highlighting the team’s struggle to find the right rhythm initially. Despite numerous opportunities, City fell short in the first half, leading to the draw. Guardiola, while remaining positive, noted the team’s efforts and the need to play the full ninety-four minutes against a formidable opponent.

Looking ahead, Guardiola mentioned the upcoming Tuesday fixture and emphasized the team’s focus on recovery and performance after their participation in the Club World Championship in Saudi Arabia. With nobody else playing on Tuesday, City aims to regroup and excel in the upcoming match.

Reflecting on the match against Chelsea, Guardiola acknowledged that the opposition could have secured victory on another day, expressing relief that City did not suffer a loss. The manager’s optimistic outlook remains intact, praising the team’s resilience and the multitude of opportunities created after conceding the goal.
