**Mohamed Salah Opens Up About Saudi Arabia Interest Before Committing to Liverpool**
Mohamed Salah has finally addressed the long-running speculation linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia, revealing that a transfer to the Middle East was a very real possibility before he chose to extend his stay at Liverpool.
Earlier in the season, questions about Salah’s future at Anfield were rampant, fueled by uncertainty over his contract status. The Egyptian star’s silence on the matter only intensified transfer rumors, with many believing that his time on Merseyside might be coming to an end.
These rumors weren’t without merit. Salah has now confirmed that discussions with Saudi Pro League representatives did occur, and a move was strongly considered. The most prominent offer came from Al Ittihad, who in August 2023 submitted a staggering £150 million bid to secure Salah’s services. Liverpool swiftly turned down the offer, unwilling to part ways with their talisman.
In an interview with *On Sport*, Salah shed light on how close he came to accepting the Saudi proposal. “There were serious talks. I considered it as a real option,” he explained. “If I hadn’t renewed with Liverpool, I might have gone to the Saudi League. I have strong relationships with people there, and the offer was genuine.”
Ultimately, Salah opted to stay loyal to Liverpool, signing a fresh two-year extension in April. This deal not only secures his future at the club until 2027 but also sends a strong message about his continued commitment to the team and its ambitions.
He also credited Liverpool fans for influencing his decision to remain. “The supporters played a huge part. They made their voices heard—they wanted me to stay. I’ve been at Liverpool for seven years, and the connection with the fans has been special since day one,” Salah said.
Salah’s decision to stay proved monumental for Liverpool. His performances throughout the season were nothing short of phenomenal. He was named the Premier League’s Player of the Season and claimed both the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards. With a remarkable tally of 34 goals and 23 assists in all competitions, Salah was instrumental in Liverpool’s successful title campaign.
While Salah is now firmly focused on his role at Liverpool, he didn’t completely rule out a move to Saudi Arabia in the future. His latest contract ensures his presence at Anfield for at least two more seasons, but the possibility of heading to the Middle East remains once his current deal comes to an end.
