Alexander Isak, the standout striker for Newcastle United, is drawing significant interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs following an impressive season at St James’ Park. With 25 goals to his name and a Carabao Cup title already secured, the 25-year-old has quickly become one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
While there are no indications that Isak is actively pushing for a move, the growing speculation around his future is hard to ignore. Reports suggest that Newcastle are demanding more than £100 million if they are to part ways with the Swedish international. This hefty price tag hasn’t deterred top clubs, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool all keeping close tabs on him.
Chelsea, in particular, are on the lookout for a new striker, and former Blues midfielder Gus Poyet believes that Isak would be an ideal addition to the squad. Poyet has praised the Swedish forward for his technical ability, movement, and overall game, claiming that he could offer strong competition to Nicolas Jackson, who has had some inconsistency in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal are also reportedly keen on Isak, with club legend Ian Wright suggesting that the club’s current players are lobbying Mikel Arteta to make a move for him. Wright recalled how Isak caused problems for Arsenal defenders earlier in the season, noting that he’s a versatile forward who can drop deep, link up play, make runs beyond the defense, and score goals. He believes that Isak has the full package, making him a potentially perfect fit for the Gunners.
Even Liverpool, despite their current attacking depth, have been linked with the Swedish forward. Former player and pundit Jamie Carragher has spoken highly of Isak, emphasizing the importance of having a proper center-forward in Liverpool’s squad. Carragher has suggested that Isak would be a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’s team, although he also pointed out that the club may not be willing to spend the large sum required to secure his services at this stage. Instead, Liverpool might look to target a younger talent with the potential to become the next Isak in the future.
As the summer transfer window looms closer, Isak’s future remains uncertain, especially after his latest performance in Newcastle’s dominant 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace, in which he scored his 25th goal of the season. With the Magpies currently sitting in third place in the Premier League and aiming for a return to the Champions League, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to hold onto their prized striker or if one of the Premier League giants will meet their asking price.
