“If I spend two years there, I’ll make an extraordinary amount. It could take me 15 years elsewhere to earn the same…” Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has decided to leave the club this summer after talks with Liverpool. He is poised to join an unexpected Saudi Arabian club, where he will become the highest-paid athlete.

Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad is reportedly preparing another substantial bid to acquire Mohamed Salah. This development comes as Liverpool transitions into a new era following the departure of long-time manager Jurgen Klopp and the appointment of Arne Slot as his successor. This managerial change has cast uncertainty over the futures of several key players within the team.

Liverpool is keen to retain as many of their key players as possible to ensure stability and continuity during this transitional period post-Klopp. Mohamed Salah, in particular, represents a significant asset for the club due to his consistent goal-scoring prowess since he joined from AS Roma in 2017. Losing him would be a considerable setback, especially given how pivotal he has been to Liverpool’s successes over recent years. Finding a replacement of his caliber would undoubtedly be challenging.

Although there was notable interest in Salah from Saudi Arabia last summer, he ultimately remained with Liverpool. Currently, Al-Ittihad is in search of a new manager, with Marcelo Gallardo expected to leave soon. This managerial uncertainty could potentially delay their transfer activities. However, according to Rudy Galetti’s report for TEAMtalk, Salah might be an exception to this delay. The Saudi club is prioritizing the addition of a new winger, and Salah is reportedly at the top of their list of targets. Al-Ittihad is preparing what has been described as a “monster offer” to secure his services.

Al-Ittihad, which already boasts high-profile players such as Fabinho, Karim Benzema, and N’Golo Kante, is aiming to bolster their squad even further following a disappointing fifth-place finish in the league. Despite their ambitions, the pursuit of Salah is not progressing as swiftly as some within the club would prefer, according to TEAMtalk.

Salah’s performance in the previous season was impressive; he scored 25 goals and provided 14 assists across all competitions for Liverpool. If the 32-year-old remains at Anfield, he is expected to play a crucial role under Slot’s management in the upcoming campaign.

This scenario underscores the high stakes involved for both clubs. For Liverpool, retaining Salah would help ensure they remain competitive during this period of change. For Al-Ittihad, securing a player of Salah’s caliber would be a significant coup and a statement of their ambitions in the Saudi Pro League and beyond.

The dynamics of this potential transfer are complex, involving both sporting and managerial considerations. With Al-Ittihad in the midst of a managerial transition, their ability to swiftly and effectively negotiate for Salah might be hindered. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s desire to maintain squad stability during their own managerial transition adds another layer of complexity.
