“I’m thrilled to have him in my squad. He’s a generational talent and a future Ballon d’Or winner.” – Ruben Amorim hails one Manchester United player as a ‘future world’s best’ and the ‘most exciting’ prospect to develop, aiming to make him the team’s star player.

Newly appointed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is setting ambitious goals for the club as he begins his tenure on a contract running until 2027. The 39-year-old Portuguese coach, who joined from Sporting CP, replaces Erik ten Hag, whose departure last month created an opportunity for a fresh approach at Old Trafford. Amorim officially took charge after wrapping up his commitments in Portugal, arriving at the club’s training facility in Carrington on Monday to meet players not away on international duty.

Amorim’s first match as United manager is scheduled for November 24, when the team faces Ipswich Town at Portman Road. With United currently languishing in 13th place in the Premier League, the pressure is on for Amorim to address the team’s struggles and chart a path to recovery. His arrival brings hope for a turnaround, as he has already signaled his intent to prioritize youth development while implementing a cohesive strategy for success.

One of Amorim’s key priorities is working with Leny Yoro, a highly-rated 19-year-old center-back signed from Lille for £52 million on a five-year deal. Yoro, who suffered a metatarsal injury during preseason, is nearing a return to full fitness. Amorim regards the French defender as a “generational talent” and plans to play a significant role in his development. Club management shares Amorim’s high regard for Yoro, who is expected to bolster United’s defense and become a cornerstone for the team’s future.

In addition to focusing on Yoro, Amorim also has high expectations for Mason Mount, who joined United from Chelsea for £55 million. Despite a challenging start to life at Old Trafford due to injuries and inconsistent form, Mount remains a key figure in Amorim’s vision. The manager values Mount’s versatility and sees him as a crucial component in his tactical plans, capable of adapting to various midfield roles to enhance the team’s flexibility and performance.

Amorim’s reputation for nurturing young talent during his time at Sporting CP aligns with Manchester United’s historical commitment to developing youth players. His appointment represents an opportunity for the club to rebuild around promising talents like Yoro while maximizing the potential of established players such as Mount. As Amorim prepares for his debut, fans and analysts are eager to see how his emphasis on youth development and tactical adaptability will shape United’s season. With the team currently facing significant challenges in the league, his tenure could mark the beginning of a transformative period at Old Trafford.
