Despite recent speculation connecting Manchester United and Arsenal to the renowned striker Karim Benzema, the player has denied any intention to leave Al Ittihad.
Benzema, who moved from Real Madrid to Al Ittihad in the summer of 2023 in a three-year deal worth £172 million per year, is reportedly content with his current situation, despite rumors of discontent in Saudi Arabia. However, his potential departure could face obstacles due to the complex approval process involving Al Ittihad’s coach Marcelo Gallardo, sporting director Roman Planes, and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sport.
Contrary to the rumors, Benzema has not expressed any dissatisfaction or desire to leave Al Ittihad. Speculation gained momentum when he returned late from a trip to Mauritius, prompting reports of a ‘temporary’ exit desire and planned discussions with the club’s administration following interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.
Former club Lyon has also been linked with Benzema, adding to the allure of a potential move to the Premier League for the French striker, who had a prolific spell at Real Madrid with 354 goals in 14 trophy-laden years.
Addressing the rumors, Benzema stated, “It’s entirely false! The French media is at a loss for new ideas. Bigger is better.”
While the financial complexities of Benzema’s salary might complicate any potential move, his addition could strengthen the goal-scoring capabilities of both Manchester United and Arsenal. United, currently in ninth place in the Premier League, is struggling to find the net, while Arsenal faces challenges in maintaining their title aspirations.
Benzema, with nine goals and five assists in 15 games for Al Ittihad, could offer a significant boost to either club. However, his current team trails behind in the title race, with Al Hilal leading the Saudi Pro League, remaining undefeated, and holding a considerable points advantage over Al Ittihad, emphasizing the challenging journey faced by Benzema’s current team.
As the transfer window unfolds, the uncertainty surrounding Benzema’s future is likely to remain a focal point, with Manchester United and Arsenal potentially aiming to secure the services of the prolific striker if conditions align favorably.
