Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed, “I tried everything to convince him, but his mind is made up—he’s determined to leave Liverpool this summer.” Following a standout preseason showing against Manchester United, Stefan Bajcetic has left Anfield to join a surprising Premier League club.

Liverpool are reportedly considering allowing their young midfielder, Stefan Bajcetic, to leave the club on loan, but only if they can secure the signing of a new defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes. The Reds have been actively pursuing a central midfielder throughout the summer, yet, despite their efforts, no new additions have been made to their squad in that area.

One of their targets, Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, was a player they had set their sights on. However, the Spanish midfielder opted to remain with his current club, rejecting the advances from Liverpool. This decision has left Liverpool in a challenging position with only 10 days remaining in the transfer window, making it uncertain whether they will be able to bring in the reinforcement they need in time.

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, is keen to bolster his midfield options and has identified the need for at least one signing to strengthen that department. If Liverpool can secure a suitable addition, it could pave the way for Bajcetic to be loaned out. Although Bajcetic has impressed Slot, the manager believes that the 19-year-old could benefit from gaining more first-team experience elsewhere before becoming a regular starter in the holding midfield role at Liverpool.

Bajcetic, who has been with Liverpool since joining the first team in 2022, had a somewhat challenging previous season due to a calf injury that hampered his progress. Despite these setbacks, the young Spaniard has shown considerable potential and is determined to improve in the upcoming campaign. However, Slot is of the opinion that Bajcetic’s development would be better served by playing more regularly, something that may not be guaranteed at Liverpool in the immediate future.

At just 19 years old, Bajcetic still has time on his side, and a loan move could provide him with the valuable experience and regular playing time that is crucial for a player in his position. Liverpool are clearly invested in his future, as evidenced by the fact that Bajcetic has three years remaining on his contract with the club. To date, he has made 22 appearances for Liverpool’s first team, during which he has scored one goal.

As Liverpool continue to navigate the transfer market in search of a new number six, the fate of Bajcetic’s immediate future remains in the balance. Should the club succeed in securing a new midfield signing, it could lead to Bajcetic being sent out on loan, where he would have the opportunity to further develop his skills and gain the experience needed to eventually claim a regular starting spot in Liverpool’s midfield.
