Liverpool manager Arne Slot has acknowledged that, despite his attempts to convince Fabio Carvalho to remain at the club, the player has chosen to depart this summer. Carvalho, who stood out in the pre-season game against Manchester United, is expected to move to a different Premier League club.

Liverpool have reportedly turned down an initial offer from Southampton for their attacking midfielder, Fabio Carvalho. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Southampton’s bid of £15 million for the 21-year-old was rejected by Liverpool. The Reds, who have seen Carvalho on loan at other clubs over the past two seasons, are open to the possibility of a sale but are looking for a higher offer than what was initially proposed.

Carvalho, who has spent time on loan at both FC Porto and a Championship club since joining Liverpool, is eager for more regular playing time, a prospect that Southampton’s manager Russell Martin can provide. Despite Carvalho’s notable pre-season performance, which included scoring a goal against Manchester United, Liverpool seems to prefer a permanent transfer rather than another loan arrangement.

The current situation follows Southampton’s recent promotion to the Premier League and their improved financial position, which has enabled them to make several significant signings. As such, they are expected to submit another bid for Carvalho in hopes of securing his services. The club’s proactive approach in the transfer market indicates their strong interest in acquiring the young talent.

Liverpool’s stance on Carvalho suggests that they are willing to negotiate but are aiming to achieve a deal that aligns with their expectations. The Reds’ decision to reject the initial offer highlights their intent to seek a more favorable arrangement, considering Carvalho’s potential and his performance during the pre-season.

With Southampton having strengthened their squad and showing a commitment to further bolster their team, the situation regarding Carvalho’s potential transfer remains dynamic. The next steps will likely involve Southampton making an improved offer, as they continue their efforts to integrate Carvalho into their Premier League campaign.
