Liverpool may contemplate bringing back a loaned player after facing a recent setback.

Liverpool has recently made the decision to recall several loaned players, including Owen Beck, James Balazigi, Rhys Williams, and Fabio Carvalho. This move has sparked speculation that the club may continue this trend in the coming days.

The catalyst for these loan recalls appears to be Trent Alexander-Arnold’s knee injury, prompting discussions about the potential recall of Calvin Ramsay from his loan at Preston North End. The Lancashire Post suggests that Liverpool might bring Ramsay back due to uncertainties surrounding his status at Deepdale.

Before Alexander-Arnold’s injury, Preston’s manager, Ryan Lowe, hinted at the possibility of Ramsay returning to Anfield. Given Ramsay’s limited playing time at Preston, coupled with Liverpool’s shortage of senior full-backs, recalling the right-back appears to be a sensible move.

Ramsay has faced challenges at Preston, experiencing limited appearances this season due to illness and injury. Furthermore, Lowe’s preference for Brad Potts in the starting lineup has further diminished Ramsay’s prospects at Deepdale.

While Ramsay may not immediately secure a prominent role at Anfield, having him available offers the Liverpool selection committee additional options. Considering his recent absence from Preston’s FA Cup match, there’s an opportunity for Liverpool to recall him for their next round, providing some relief for Conor Bradley.

In light of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s unfortunate injury, it is crucial for Liverpool to seriously consider ending Ramsay’s loan at Preston. This strategic move would not only address the team’s current challenges but also bolster their defensive options during a critical period.
