Liverpool submit bid for 26-year-old player once pursued by Slot at Feyenoord

Liverpool are reportedly pursuing Bologna defender Sam Beukema, with recent claims suggesting the Premier League side submitted an offer for the 26-year-old Dutch center-back. According to *1000 Cuori Rossoblu*, the proposal was rejected by the Serie A club, who appear reluctant to part with one of their key players during the current transfer window.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is said to have a personal connection with Beukema, as he previously sought to bring the defender to Feyenoord during his time in charge there. Slot’s familiarity with Beukema’s qualities could be a driving factor behind Liverpool’s interest, particularly as the club looks to strengthen its defensive options. The Reds have struggled with inconsistent fitness levels among some of their defenders, including Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konaté, which makes bolstering the backline a priority.

Beukema has been a standout performer for Bologna in Serie A, earning a reputation for his reliability and defensive prowess. His performances have caught the eye of top clubs, and a move to Liverpool would undoubtedly appeal to the Dutchman. A switch to a club of Liverpool’s stature would represent a significant step forward in his career, offering him the chance to showcase his talents on a bigger stage and in a highly competitive league.

The center-back notably impressed during Bologna’s visit to Anfield in October, where his solid display left a lasting impression on the Liverpool hierarchy. However, despite Liverpool’s interest, Bologna are reportedly unwilling to entertain the idea of selling Beukema in the middle of the season. Their stance suggests that any potential deal would have to wait until the summer, assuming Liverpool or other suitors return with renewed efforts.

At 26 years old, Beukema is entering the prime years of his career and could adapt well to the demands of the Premier League. His physicality and strong defensive capabilities would likely make him an excellent fit for English football, and he would aim to make an immediate impact at Anfield if a transfer materializes.

While it remains uncertain whether Liverpool will submit an improved bid in the coming weeks, their interest highlights their determination to address defensive vulnerabilities. For Beukema, the opportunity to join one of Europe’s top clubs could be an enticing prospect, but Bologna’s reluctance to negotiate could delay any move until the end of the season.
