Liverpool supporters are excited as club president John Henry provides encouraging news about the potential acquisitions of Martin Zubimendi and Anthony Gordon. An announcement about a new signing is anticipated later this week.

Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Liverpool’s interest in signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer is still a possibility, although it may depend on whether Newcastle is willing to lower their asking price for the English winger. Despite ongoing speculation, Liverpool has not yet made an official offer for the 23-year-old, nor have there been any recent discussions between the two clubs about a potential transfer.

Romano highlights that while Liverpool’s pursuit of Gordon remains a potential scenario, it is not currently on the verge of becoming a reality. This is primarily due to Newcastle’s current stance on retaining Gordon and the absence of any recent negotiations or formal bids from Liverpool. Newcastle is eager to keep Gordon in their squad, which makes any potential transfer a complex situation. However, Liverpool’s interest in the player has been confirmed, suggesting that the club is still considering the possibility of making a move if the conditions are favorable.

In addition to their interest in Gordon, Liverpool is also reportedly looking at Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as a potential target. Zubimendi is said to be open to the idea of moving to Liverpool, which aligns with the club’s strategy of being opportunistic in the transfer market this window. The club’s approach to strengthening their squad appears to be focused on securing players who can significantly contribute to their team’s success.

Regarding Gordon’s situation, it’s important to note that there is no release clause in his contract, and Newcastle is resolute in their intention to hold onto him. This determination from Newcastle adds another layer of difficulty to any potential transfer. Nevertheless, Liverpool may still find an opportunity to secure Gordon’s services if circumstances change, such as if Newcastle becomes more flexible with their asking price.

Overall, while Liverpool’s interest in Anthony Gordon is genuine, it remains uncertain whether a transfer will materialize. The club’s focus is also on other targets like Martin Zubimendi, and any move for Gordon would likely depend on further developments in negotiations and Newcastle’s willingness to reconsider their demands.
