Manchester City leads the race ahead of Liverpool in securing an £80 million transfer deal.

Recent reports suggest that Manchester City is growing more confident in securing the signing of Jamal Musiala in the upcoming summer transfer window. Despite interest from Liverpool and Chelsea, the Premier League champions seem to have the upper hand in negotiations.

According to the Daily Star, Musiala has turned down a contract extension offer from Bayern Munich, intensifying speculation about a potential move. Both Manchester City and Liverpool are actively pursuing Musiala, with scouts from both clubs present during Bayern’s recent Bundesliga defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern proposed a new contract worth £150,000 per week to keep the 21-year-old, whose current deal runs until June 2026. Musiala, a 25-cap Germany international, has been a crucial contributor to Bayern this season, registering four assists and nine goals in 28 appearances.

Reports suggest that Musiala informed Manchester City last week of his decision not to sign a contract extension. The player, a former Chelsea academy product with over 150 appearances for Bayern Munich, is anticipated to command a fee of at least £80 million, with potential weekly wages reaching £200,000—significantly higher than his current £90,000 per week earnings at Bayern.

Although Liverpool holds an interest in Musiala, Manchester City is increasingly confident about securing his signature. Chelsea’s chances of completing a transfer may hinge on their qualification for European competition.

Musiala, who has hinted at a possible move to the Premier League, stated last year, “The Premier League is currently the strongest and most appealing league in the world, but I feel content here and am focused on achieving success with Bayern. However, you never know what may transpire in a few years.”

At just 21 years old, Musiala is showcasing the peak of his footballing abilities, and a potential transfer to Manchester City would see them acquire one of the most promising young talents in the sport. With Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Jamal Musiala potentially playing together, it would pose a formidable challenge for defenders.
