In addition to the speculation surrounding Alvarez, Chelsea has reached an agreement for another striker. According to Colombian media, Jhon Duran, a forward for Aston Villa, has agreed to a £42 million move to Chelsea. The London club had shown interest in Duran during the January transfer window, but a deal could not be finalized as Aston Villa was reluctant to let go of one of their key players in the middle of a highly competitive season.
Guillermo Arango from Colombia reports that Chelsea and Aston Villa have now settled on the £42 million transfer fee for Duran, and contract negotiations with the player are currently underway. Duran’s agent, Jonathan Herrera, had previously mentioned the striker’s frustration with limited playing time at Aston Villa, despite being a significant asset to the team. Herrera stated last month, “He is a player with a contract with Aston Villa; he performed really well and the coach is relying on him. It’s a tremendous opportunity for the club to be in the Champions League, but we know he wants to play; we’ll see.” This indicates that while Duran values his time at Villa, he is eager for more regular playing opportunities, which a move to Chelsea could provide.
