Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly considering Marcus Rashford as their top candidate to replace Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to depart for Real Madrid. With Mbappe leaving, PSG will have significant funds available, as he was the club’s highest-paid player. They plan to allocate these resources towards securing a new striker during the summer transfer window. Rashford has previously attracted PSG’s interest, notably in 2022, before he extended his contract with Manchester United.
Despite Rashford’s struggles this season under manager Erik ten Hag, PSG remains interested in the English forward. Rashford has encountered challenges both on and off the field, scoring only seven goals in 34 appearances and facing disciplinary action from Manchester United for an off-field incident. Nevertheless, PSG is not deterred by Rashford’s recent performance and is reportedly prepared to offer £75 million to acquire him.
Despite Rashford’s expressed loyalty to Manchester United, PSG believes they can persuade him to move to Paris and fill the void left by Mbappe. Rashford has publicly stated his commitment to Manchester United in an interview with The Players’ Tribune, emphasizing his deep connection to the club, where he has been since childhood. This loyalty adds complexity to PSG’s pursuit, but they remain confident in their ability to convince him to join.
Alternatively, PSG is also considering Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as an option if Rashford opts to remain in the Premier League. PSG is exploring various avenues to bolster their squad for the upcoming season, keeping their options open as they seek to strengthen their team.
