**Mikel Arteta Sends Defiant Message to Liverpool**

    adminBy adminJanuary 26, 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Mikel Arteta has acknowledged that Arsenal is actively seeking reinforcements in the striker position, emphasizing that player input is being considered in the decision-making process. With the Premier League title race heating up against Liverpool, Arteta is determined to address the squad’s needs before the transfer window closes in 10 days.

The urgency stems from the long-term absence of Gabriel Jesus, who has been ruled out for up to a year following an ACL injury. This setback leaves Kai Havertz as Arsenal’s sole recognized striker, compounded by Bukayo Saka’s unavailability until March after suffering a hamstring injury during the match against Crystal Palace on December 21.

Declan Rice recently hinted at potential transfer activity, and Arteta has now confirmed that the club is aware of the necessity to strengthen the squad. “We are short in numbers, and everyone knows the situation we’re in,” Arteta said. “Our focus is on making decisions that benefit both the team and the club.”

Arteta also shared that he frequently consults his players when considering potential signings, particularly if they have prior experience with the target player. “Players offer insights that data simply can’t provide,” he explained. “I’m interested in understanding how a striker copes with challenges—missing key chances, handling physical battles, and performing under different pressures. That kind of feedback is invaluable.”

While Arteta has previously been cautious about discussing transfers, he admitted that the injuries to Jesus and Saka have shifted his perspective. “We’ve lost two crucial players who contribute heavily to our goals and attacking options. If the right player is available and can truly strengthen the squad, we’ll make a move. But we won’t compromise by signing just anyone.”

There is some positive news for Arsenal, with William Saliba and Myles Lewis-Skelly potentially returning to action in the upcoming Premier League clash against Wolves. Both players missed Arsenal’s recent Champions League victory over Dinamo Zagreb but could bolster the squad as the team fights to stay in the title race.

Currently six points behind Liverpool in the league standings, having played an extra game, Arsenal remains focused on closing the gap. Arteta is confident that his team can capitalize on any missteps by Liverpool. “The margins in this title race are extremely tight,” he said. “We’ll be ready to seize any opportunity. The race is far from over, and there’s still a long way to go.”
