According to AS reports, Jose Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has signaled the 60-year-old manager’s interest in taking on a role with Al-Shabab, but with a specific condition. Ongoing discussions between Mourinho and Al Shabab suggest a potential move, as the former Real Madrid boss has reportedly received offers from Saudi Arabia for some time.
Last summer, Mourinho allegedly turned down offers due to commitments to players but is now open to a venture in the Saudi Pro League. Sports reporter Turki Alghamdi, citing Jorge Mendes, claims that Mourinho is willing to join Al-Shabab, provided the club recruits ‘star names.’
While interest in the legendary manager extends beyond Saudi Arabia, Napoli is reportedly eyeing him, and a Premier League return is also plausible, with Newcastle considering him as a replacement for Eddie Howe. European clubs have expressed early interest, introducing the possibility that Mourinho might opt against a move to Saudi Arabia, as per ESPN.
Should a deal with the Saudi club materialize swiftly, Mourinho’s potential debut as Al-Shabab’s manager could be against AS Roma in a friendly in Riyadh. Notably, Mourinho was recently let go by Roma, despite a successful first season that ended the club’s 14-year trophy drought and secured victory in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
