Newcastle prepared to invest £100m in two discontented Arsenal stars seeking summer exits.

Newcastle United have reportedly set their sights on a surprising transfer target: Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian forward, brought to Arsenal by Mikel Arteta, could be available for a fee of €55m (£46m), according to reports from the Spanish outlet Fichajes. This news comes amidst a season of growing concerns for Arsenal, whose campaign has not gone as planned.

Despite being tipped as title contenders at the start of the season, Arsenal currently find themselves outside the top four after the first ten games. Their struggles have left fans increasingly worried, a sentiment amplified by Edu Gaspar’s recent resignation as the club’s sporting director. These developments have led to the perception that Arsenal is undergoing significant and unsettling changes, even though their current league position is not disastrous.

For Newcastle, pursuing Gabriel Jesus aligns with their ambitions to establish themselves as one of England’s top clubs. Backed by significant financial resources and enjoying strong recent performances, the Magpies are building a squad capable of competing at the highest level. Adding Jesus to their roster would represent a strategic move, as his Premier League experience and proven versatility would make him an excellent fit for Eddie Howe’s side.

The presence of a robust Brazilian contingent at Newcastle further enhances the appeal of this potential transfer. Players like Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton have thrived at the club, and Jesus could seamlessly integrate into this growing South American core. This camaraderie could be a key factor in convincing him to join the Magpies.

However, there are potential hurdles to this deal. Gabriel Jesus enjoys a strong relationship with Mikel Arteta, which could make leaving Arsenal a difficult decision. Additionally, Newcastle’s project, while ambitious and promising, may not yet hold the same allure as playing for a club with Arsenal’s stature. Nevertheless, the long-term vision and rapid progress at Newcastle could prove tempting for players seeking fresh challenges.

When Jesus initially joined Arsenal from Manchester City, he made an immediate impact, bolstering the team’s attacking options. However, his role within the squad has diminished over time. Arteta now often favors Kai Havertz as the main striker, while competition for wide attacking positions has further limited Jesus’s opportunities. He frequently finds himself utilized as a substitute rather than a starter.

Whether Newcastle can secure the Brazilian’s signature remains uncertain, but their interest underlines their intent to attract top talent as they continue their rise in English football.
