Real Madrid is prepared to offer £150 million to acquire an “exceptional” Manchester City player, opting for this option over signing Haaland, whose price tag is £51 million.

Real Madrid is reportedly considering a move for Manchester City player Julian Alvarez, valued at $51 million, rather than pursuing Erling Haaland as Karim Benzema’s replacement. Alvarez, an Argentine striker, has caught Real Madrid’s attention after being described as “extraordinary” by Manchester City’s Khaldoon Al-Mubarak. Alvarez has scored two goals in the 2023/2024 season.

Speculation surrounds Alvarez’s future as he has struggled to displace Erling Haaland as Manchester City’s starting center forward. Real Madrid had missed out on signing Alvarez when he joined Manchester City in January of the previous year, possibly due to their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.

The prospect of signing Julian Alvarez for £51.4 million is appealing to Real Madrid, especially if Manchester City considers making a move for Evan Ferguson. Alvarez could serve as a backup plan for Real Madrid in case they fail to secure the signing of Mbappe in the summer of 2024.

However, it is highly unlikely that Alvarez will leave Manchester City. His contract was recently extended until 2028, making a transfer improbable. Additionally, acquiring the 23-year-old would require Real Madrid to pay a substantial fee, likely a club record.

Moreover, Manchester City has no reason to sell one of the most promising strikers in the game, especially under the guidance of Pep Guardiola. Alvarez’s departure from Manchester City appears highly unlikely, given his contract extension and his importance to the team.
