Crystal Palace is currently in pursuit of a new striker, but reports indicate hesitancy to meet Arsenal’s £40 million asking price for Eddie Nketiah. Negotiations have encountered obstacles due to the substantial transfer fee demanded by Arsenal, despite Crystal Palace’s urgent need for a center-forward.

The quest to bolster the striking position at Crystal Palace began last summer, given lackluster performances in that role. Although Nketiah is a primary target, doubts arise over the feasibility of a deal with Arsenal’s valuation ranging between £40-50 million for the academy graduate.

While Arsenal is open to selling Nketiah under certain conditions, they may have rebuffed an initial approach from Crystal Palace. Financial dynamics, including Nketiah’s high wages, play a role in the hesitation from Crystal Palace to commit to such a hefty fee.

Alex Crook emphasizes Arsenal’s firm stance in rejecting offers during the summer window, signaling reluctance to part ways with Nketiah without securing a suitable replacement. Despite Crystal Palace’s eagerness, other Premier League clubs have also expressed interest in Nketiah. However, the prevailing sentiment is that Nketiah is more inclined to stay at Arsenal during this transfer window.

Now, attention shifts to Arsenal’s urgent need for a new striker, constrained by Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Selling Nketiah before acquiring a replacement becomes imperative, but the chances of realizing the £40 million asking price seem slim, particularly with Crystal Palace’s reluctance.

As the transfer saga unfolds, both clubs have the opportunity to reassess their positions. Crystal Palace might reconsider negotiations with a revised offer, while Arsenal must navigate the challenge of balancing financial constraints with the imperative of strengthening their attacking options throughout the window.
